In the past few years India has witnessed some of the fairy tale wedding ceremonies in India and abroad. Here are list of some celebrity Indians and NRI weddings, which were the talk of the town.

Be it the corporate big wigs like the Saharas and the Mittals, or the Bollywood actors like Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor or cricket stars like Virender Shewag, Rahul Dravid and Rohan Gavaskar. Each of their weddings had one thing in common and i.e. all of these wedding ceremonies are nothing less than fairy tales. Everybody knows the saying that ' marriages are made in heaven' and this saying is just perfect to describe these wedding ceremonies. The way the Saharas and the Mittals have celebrated their wedding ceremony it is nothing less than the weddings of the century. Indian weddings are signified as sacred religious ties between the families of the bride and the bridegroom. They are elaborate, expensive and emotional events, which are eagerly awaited, by all the young girls and boys when they are treated like kings and queens of the day. These celebrity weddings showcase the glamour and glitz of Indian wedding ceremonies in true sense.

When corporate giant Subrata Roy announced the weddings of his two sons Seemanto with Chandni and Sushanto with Richa everybody knew it would be the weddings of the century. It was nothing less than an extravaganza of glamour and gloss. It was a spectacular event held at the Sahara Shaher in Lucknow. The pre wedding celebrations were held at their palatial residence Swapna Kuti. More than 11,000 guests around the world attended the grand finale at Sahara Shaher The Sahara Township in Lucknow. The main day wedding function was celebrated at the Sahara Auditorium. The baaraat proceeded by car from Swapna Kuti, then assembled at the Township's Helipad and from there proceeded towards the auditorium. The ceremony of ladies sangeet was held at Hotel Clarks Awadh. Among the people who attended the function includes names like business giant Anil Ambani, politician Mulayam Singh Yadav, cricketer Kapil Dev, actor Amitabh Bachhan, and actress Aishwarya Rai to anme a few. There was nothing left to be done on a wedding ceremony. In one word it was just magnificent.

Another wedding, which was the talk of the town, was the wedding of the daughter of London-based steel tycoon Laxmi Niwas Mittal. Vanisha the daughter got married to Amit Bhatia, an investment banker based in London. He is the son of Delhi based businessman Arun K Bhatia and his wife Renu and is an alumnus of Delhi's St Columba's school and British School, a graduate of Cornell University. He is currently employed at the Credit Suisse First Boston investment bank in London. The venue of the wedding was the Palace of Versailles, where the French 'Sun King' Louis XIV held court in the 17th century, and the 17th-century Vaux le Vicomte, acknowledged as 'the finest chateau and garden' in France. The castle of Vaux le Vicomte was decorated for the Mittal wedding. The wedding was celebrated for six days and cost million of pounds. It was reported that the total cost of the wedding was around £30m / $55million that is more than rupees two hundred crores in Indian money. For weeks the wedding preparations, main day celebration and guest list made it to the page 3 news of all the leading dallies of the country and abroad. The guest list included names like from Indian and British society. Movie stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta and Aishwarya Rai was present to name a few. Famous lyricist and writer Javed Akhtar, is said, to have written a one-hour play to be staged during the run-up to the vivaah. The scale at which the wedding was celebrated is simply something to remember for years.

Recently India also saw the wedding ceremony of Rohan Gavaskar with Swati Mankar. Rohn Gavaskar, the son of India's cricketing legend, Sunil Gavaskar recently married Swati, his childhood sweetheart. The wedding ceremony was the talk of the town as it was attended by the who's who of Indian film industry, politics, cricket and fashion industry. People like Shabana Azmi, Bal Thakeray, Sachin Tendulkar, Shobha De, Dimple Kapadia, Dev Anand, Dilip Kumar, Zaheer Khan, Ajit Agrkar and Yuvraj Singh graced the occasion. Both the bride and the groom were beautifully dressed as Swati looked stunning in a deep red lengha with heavy gold work all over the dupatta and matching kundan jewelry. The groom Rohan was kitted out in a beige kurta pyjama with buti embroidery all over and a matching dupatta in cruch material looked stunning.
